How to properly maintain your car as the weather gets colder
In the cold winter, vehicle maintenance undoubtedly becomes the most concerned topic for car owners. After the vehicle has passed the warranty period, some malfunctions will inevitably occur. Cars need to be repaired three times and maintained seven times. Through active inspection and maintenance, some initial, potential, and hidden faults can be discovered and eliminated.
Pay more attention when parking and starting the vehicle
When parking at night, try to avoid parking the vehicle at the air vent, because the vehicle is made of metal, especially inside the engine cylinder. After a night of blowing and low temperature, the heat absorption and conductivity of the metal will cause frosting inside the engine, and the internal temperature will drop very low. This not only brings great difficulties to the engine starting, but also causes significant damage to the engine itself. So, after starting the vehicle in winter, try not to drive or press the accelerator immediately, because the oil needs to be delivered to various parts through the oil pump. If the vehicle is driven and accelerated without good lubrication, it will cause serious damage to various parts of the vehicle.
Eliminate fog, check lights frequently, pay attention to vision
The most common problem during winter driving is the fogging of the car's interior windows, which blurs the driver's vision and poses a safety hazard. At this point, the temperature knob can be placed in the warm air position to achieve both defogging and heating. Light inspection mainly includes fog lights, headlights, high mounted brake lights, etc. Once black bulbs are found, they should be replaced as soon as possible. Ordinary halogen headlights generally experience a decrease in light after two years of use, while if xenon headlights need to be retrofitted, the color temperature should ideally be between 5000 and 6000K. Because the higher the color temperature, the lower the penetration of light in foggy weather, and the greater the safety hazards.
Attention should be paid to tire maintenance during winter
Tire rubber will become harder and relatively brittle in winter, and the friction coefficient will decrease, so the tire pressure should not be too high, but it should not be too low. Low external temperature, low tire pressure, and severe soft tires can accelerate tire aging. In winter, it is necessary to regularly clean the impurities inside the tire tread, try to avoid using tires that have been repaired more than once, and replace tires with high wear and different brands and patterns. The wear inside and outside the tire varies greatly. To ensure safety and reduce wear, the position of the tire should be changed regularly.
